I achieved my 2 star (now “Explore”) award with TCC in 1993, became a Level 2 Kayak coach in 2000 and have been coaching with TCC ever since. I added Canoe coach in 2007, when British Canoeing added canoeing to the 2 star syllabus. Personal qualifications include 4 star white water kayak, 3 star sea kayak and 3 star canoe.

My preferences are white water and surf, but I also paddle open canoe and sea kayak when I can fit them in. I can also be spotted taking club members down white water in one of TCC’s duo kayaks. I have built a wooden sea kayak and a couple of canoes, and carved some nice wooden paddles. As well as coaching, I am the club secretary and look after the club kit.
